Meet Nelson Matoma
Nelson Matoma is a Sydney-based illustrator and caricature artist with more than 30 years of experience. Originally from Colombia, his career has included children's book illustration, exhibitions in the USA, South America and Australia, and live caricature entertainment at weddings, corporate events, festivals and private celebrations.
Nelson holds a Master's degree in Graphic Design from the University of Wollongong and has also taught design and illustration.

How long does each caricature take?
On average about 5 to 7 minutes per face, drawn live in front of your guests.
How many guests can you draw per hour?
Usually 7 to 9 caricatures per hour, depending on the group and the setting.
What size are the drawings?
A3 paper is standard, and I can also draw on other surfaces such as T-shirts, mugs or canvas. Each drawing goes into a clear protective sleeve.
Do you travel outside Sydney?
Yes. Travel outside Sydney is absolutely possible, and interstate and international bookings are welcome. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as possible, especially for weekends and special events, as the calendar fills up quickly.
Can the caricatures be customised for our event?
Absolutely. A specific theme, outfit or background can be worked in — just let me know in advance. Fees may apply depending on the request.
