Nelson Matoma is a Sydney caricature artist who draws live caricatures at weddings. Each guest sits for about 5 to 7 minutes while their portrait takes shape in front of the other guests, then takes home an original drawing as a personalised keepsake from your day.

A keepsake for every guest
Live caricatures give wedding guests something to do and something to take home. Guests can watch each drawing take shape, chat with Nelson while they are drawn and leave with their own personalised piece of artwork.
A3 paper is standard, and every drawing goes into a clear protective sleeve so it stays safe and clean on the way home. Drawings can also be done on other surfaces, such as T-shirts, mugs or canvas, if you have something specific in mind.
Couples, wedding parties and families can also be drawn together as a group caricature.
Making it fit your wedding
A specific theme, outfit or background can be worked into the drawings. Just let Nelson know in advance. Fees may apply depending on the request.
Travel outside Sydney is possible, and interstate and international bookings are welcome. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.
Getting a quote for your wedding
Private events are priced separately, depending on the location, the type of event and the number of guests. To receive a quote, send your wedding date, venue, how long you would like Nelson to draw and your expected guest numbers on the contact page.
Book as early as possible, especially for weekend dates, as the calendar fills up quickly.
How many wedding guests can be drawn?
A typical face takes about 5 to 7 minutes, so Nelson can usually draw 7 to 9 caricatures an hour. Use these figures to plan how long to book for your guest list.
